To Togo

I created “To Togo” (Togo being the Paiute word for grandfather) in tribute to Ku Stevens’ great grandfather Frank Quinn. At the age of eight Frank ran away from the Stewart Indian School in Carson City and crossed 50 miles of desert to his home in Yerington, not one but three times. Last year Ku Stevens, (a cross country runner and Gatorade Nevada To Athlete two years in a row) organized a run to retrace his great grandfather’s route as a way to honor and remember all of the children who were subjected to the Indian School programs. This year Ku reversed the route, running back to the school in a gesture of healing. This fall Ku is Oregon State to run in their program.
